Pocket pets is a term that is commonly used to refer to small mammals kept as a household pet. Examples include the more common species, such as rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, ferrets, mice, and rats; however, more exotic species, such as sugar gliders, chinchillas, even prairie dogs, have been kept as “pocket” pets.
